Advertising - Good and Bad

Every person has experienced good and bad advertisements. Not only have I experienced good and bad advertisements, I also have been approached by companies that want to advertise for me - which in itself is a marketing company presenting me with an advertisement to sell their service. None of this is bad by default, but the approach and focus is a problem. I also understand this career path is the way many support their families. So I am not anti-advertising, just against some of the tactics, For example, the sales rep will always make comments like "we will help your business grow by getting your name out there" or "Campbell Soup is known due to advertising, would this help our business if everyone knew your company name". While I feel these items are somewhat true. there are some misleading information. For example, the fact that your company is found on an internet search, does not generate business. It takes more than just being seen. The other two main needs is PRICE and product and service OFFER. What I mean is your price in many cases have to be the lowest to receive business from an internet search. You have to have name recognition, business location near the client, good ratings (that appeal to the searcher), etc. However, every advising group I have received solicitation from only provides one item - being found on internet search engines. Many give a "Guarantee Statement" similar to "We guarantee your website will be on the first page of searches". Lets be clear, this does not mean the search will generate any income. then lets look at the fact that the business has to earn the money spent on the ad plus all of the regular expenses. Therefore, most of the time, these ads mean you have to charge more for your product and service. I will post more on this later.
